  1. I downloaded the iPad app but the book I purchased through the eBooks store isn't listed. When can I expect to access the book on my iPad?
  2. While many ASHP titles are now live on the ASHP eBooks platform, there is a different conversion process for the iPad app. The remaining titles are in the process of being converted and will be available as soon as they are ready. 
  3. Can I return the eBooks purchased?
  4. No, the eBooks purchased cannot be returned, so make sure you look at the few samples of eBooks through ViewInside before purchasing.
  5. Can I print the eBook?
  6. The eBook is protected, so that only 1 page can be printed at a time.
  7. How do I purchase eBooks on the iPad app?
  8. There is no In App purchase available on ASHP iPad app. You will have to go to http://ebooks.ashp.org/ to purchase any subscription[eBooks]. After successfully subscribing from the eBook site, please login to the app using the same credentials to download and access your purchased eBooks.
  9. How do I download my purchased eBooks to the iPad?
    1. Download the iPad app from the iTunes link http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ashp-ebooks/id482918379?mt=8
    2. Login using the registered credentials from the 'My Account' tab.
    3. After successful login, tap on 'ASHP eBookS' at the bottom.
    4. Search for your purchased eBook by tapping 'Browse' button on 'ASHP eBookS'.
    5. Your purchased eBook(s) will be listed with 'Download Now' button and other eBooks will be listed with 'Buy' button
    6. Tap on 'Download Now' button to download the eBooks to 'My Bookshelf'.
    7. Now, you can read the downloaded eBook(s) from 'My Bookshelf'.


  10. What am I buying?
  11. You are purchasing an ASHP eBook.  When you purchase an eBook from ASHP's iPublish Central, you can read your eBooks within iPub Central's own online eBook reader using a web browser, or offline with the iPublishCentral reader. Some ASHP eBooks are also available for purchase through Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, Google eBooks, and iBooks.
  12. Are there member prices on ASHP eBooks?
  13. ASHP members receive a passcode by e-mail to receive a 10% discount on all ASHP eBook purchases.  Members may inquire at publications@ashp.org.


  14. What is Adobe Flash Player?
  15. Adobe® Flash® Player is a cross-platform browser-based application that provides uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content, and videos across screens and browsers. You need to install Flash Player in order to use the online eBook reader. You can download Flash Player here.
  16. What do I need to read the eBooks I have purchased on a computer?
    1. Web browser with Flash Player installed. Examples include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome,Safari, and Opera. Our e-books can be viewed on any computer or hand held devise that is equipped with Adobe Flash Player.

    3. For offline reading, you can install the iPublishCentral reader by clicking the "Download iPublishCentral Reader" button from your online book shelf.


  17. What is the iPublishCentral reader?
    1. iPublishCentral reader is  a computer application for Windows PCs that allows you to read your books offline. It functions similarly to the web based online reader. Please note that the iPublishCentral reader does not work on tablets unless it is running Windows, we are working on apps for the Android tablets.

      • Once you login to the eBook site using your account you will notice a button “Download iPublishCentral Reader”

      • Click on the download button to go to installation page. Click on install button to setup iPublishCentral reader on your system.

      • If you are having trouble downloading or installing iPublishCentral Reader(Previously iOffline Reader), Please clear your browser cache and cookies and try downloading again or try using a different browser(ex :Mozilla Firefox). (Google Chrome will cause difficulty during installation as it has compatibility issues). Also ensure you have updated version of Adobe Air on your computer. 
      • The iPublishCentral Reader bookshelf is displayed. If the user is logging in for the first time, then a message "No books have been downloaded to the bookshelf" is displayed.

      • Click the Login button on the upper right corner of the screen.

      1. Select Normal User.
      2. Enter http://ebooks.ashp.org in the Site URL field.
      • Enter the user name in the Username field
      • Enter the password in the Password field
      • Click the Sign In button
      • Once loaded, you can see all the books that you have subscribed online with a download link for offline reading.

  18. How do I read my eBooks online?
  19. Simply go to the ASHP eBooks website using your web browser, login, click on Bookshelf, select the book you wish to read and click "Read It."
  20. Where can I buy a print copy of the books?
  21. If interested in a print version of any of ASHP e-books titles, please click here or visit http://store.ashp.org
  22. Can I use my ASHP username and Password to login?
  23. No. Your ASHP account is not linked to the eBook store. You will need to create a separate account in order to purchase eBooks. If you choose to do so, you are free to use the same username and password as your ashp.org account.
  24. How do I log into my account/create an account?
  25. Enter your new username and password where indicated on the right side of ASHP's eBooks website, if you do not have an account already, you can register by clicking the register link. The account can be the same as your ASHP login, but you will need to create a new account for iPub Central.
  26. How do I change my password?
  27. From your account, click "Profile Setting," then "Change Password." You will be prompted to enter your old password and your new password.
  28. How can I change my view of the page?
  29. The top panel allows you to change your view of the book by clicking on one of its icons. Scrolling over the icons before clicking will initiate a pop-up burst indicating what that particular icon can change. These include:
        --Switch to double pane view  
        --Switch to single pane view  
        --Zoom the page   
        --Fit the page to height  
        --Fit the page to width 
        --Toggle full-screen mode. 
  30. How do I add my personal notes throughout the e-book?
  31. Right click on content to which you want to add notes and choose 'add notes' from the option list. You can check for these notes in the 'My notes' segment in your 'My Folder' page.
  32. How do I bookmark a page?
  33. The top panel in the reader has the Bookmark option. Clicking on it will bookmark the page being currently viewed. You can check for the pages that have been bookmarked in the 'My Bookmarks' segment in your 'My Folder' page.
  34. How do I use the search option?
  35. Type a search term or phrase in the search text box and click on ‘Go’ to search the e-book content. Your search results will appear in a column on the right-hand side of the page. Specific search terms usually result in more targeted results. Note: The search option is disabled when viewing the book in the full-screen mode.
  36. Will I be able to read my eBooks purchased from ASHP's eBook website on the Amazon Kindle?
  37. Soon you will be able to purchase ASHP eBooks from Amazon for the Kindle and the Kindle app on your iPad/iPhone. This will be a separate purchase. 
  38. How do I get an ASHP eBook onto the Apple iPad or iPhone?
  39. Many ebooks are now available to access through the ASHP eBooks iPad app, with more to come. Please note next to each product whether it is available yet for the iPad app. If it states it is not yet available, it is still being converted for the iPad version.

  42. Do you offer bulk discounts and institutional subscriptions?

  44. How I administer my institutional account?
  45. The institutional administrator can log in at www.ebooks.ashp.org. In the report sections, Counter reports are availble online or as downloads for each year and title. In the Manage Institution area, one can update access information, including users, IP addresses, and/or referring URLs.
  46. Can I view a sample eBook?
  47. All ASHP eBooks have sample pages available through ViewInside that users can see before purchasing. Click the View Inside button for a free preview.
  48. How can I copy parts of a text?
  49. Open a book by selecting “Read It.” Find the page you want to copy text from, and select the "TextSelection" symbol located next to the "Pen" symbol. Point to the first word of the selection you wish to copy and highlight the text.
